These bloody days

Today is the 475th anniversary of the execution of Anne Boleyn. I have been wearing this beautiful necklace all day in memory of her. I have been thinking a lot over the last few days about Anne, and about her brother George and the others who were executed a few days before. I am sure that they would have all wanted to die as old men and women with their families all around them, but that wasn't to be. Instead, they were publicly beheaded. How awful it must have been for them all going to their deaths knowing that they were innocent of the crimes of which they had been accused!
